Top 4 Things to Get for Bell's Palsy

Updated: Mar 3

Bell's Palsy is physical of course, but the mental effects it has can last a lifetime. And no one understands, unless you have gone through it. Our face is how we represent ourselves to the world. The emotional trauma of waking up with a paralyzed face is not something that is easy to describe. The panic, fear, uncertainty is just a start. So it's important to rest, heal and focus inward to get back to being you.

These are the items I had around me when I was healing both mentally and physically from BP. These aren't cures or medical items, but I think they helped me get back to being me.

"Keep items close to you that bring you comfort. This is a major thing you are going through. Don't marginalize it, don't try to rationalize it. Now it is time to learn, and to heal".

1. Weighted Eye Mask

A major issue Bell's Palsy brings is problems with the eye on your paralyzed side. Because it can't blink on it's own, it's important to keep it lubricated (and not with Visine, you need the goopy ointment kind), and most people need to keep it taped shut at least for a bit. When I was sleeping (which was a lot, since I was not particularly interested in facing the world), my weighted eye mask was THE BEST. It also makes me feel safe and "closed in", and I still sleep with it now. Mine is from Saje here.

2. Frankincense Essential Oil

I love essential oils, I use them every day and have felt so many benefits from them. Just make sure you use pure, high quality oils. I only use Doterra oils. The #1 oil I recommend getting is Frank. It has anti-depressant and calming qualities that make it a great essential oil for coping with stress and anxiety. It also helps boost immunity and help with cell regeneration, which is what you need when your body is healing and your mind is stressed. Diffuse it in your room 24/4 and apply to the bottom of your feet. You will love it. It's so comforting.

3. Rose Quartz Crystal

My rose quartz is always by my side. It is known as the "stone of love", it emits a strong vibration of unconditional love, joy, warmth and emotional healing. It's also known to lower stress, bring happiness and soothe the soul. Plus they're so pretty!

4. Journal

This is a big time for you. You are healing and you have a lot to learn about yourself. While you are going through this part of your journey you will need to let a lot of things go - emotionally and physically. The Universe is talking to you, make sure you listen, and write it down.

Much love,

B Xo.
